The Air Force Assistance Fund campaign runs March 4 to April 15 in the KMC.
Program officials invite Airmen to contribute to any of the Air Force’s four official charitable organizations that benefit active-duty, Reserve, Guard, retirees, surviving spouses and families.
“Contributions are vital for the society to sustain this kind of help; it is truly an Airmen-helping-Airmen program,” said retired Lt. Gen. Mike McGinty, Air Force Aid Society chief executive officer.
The chief of staff of the Air Force recently announced a $5.4 million goal. Last year Air Force people gave $6.7 million to the fund. The KMC contributed $244,402.
In return, the AFAS provided the KMC with $687,462 in assistance during 2004, including $216,179 in emergency assistance, $431,365 in education and $39,918 in community enhancement programs, said Capt. Derek Blough, the 2005 campaign coordinator here.
“The Air Force Assistance Fund has made a real difference in our community,” said Col. Bob Otto, 435th Air Base Wing vice commander. “The KMC’s contributions have a direct impact on our Airmen.”
