***image2***Do you know when and where you’re allowed to wear the desert camouflage uniform while traveling?

If not, the Air Force Personnel Center has released guidance from AFI 36-2903 regarding the DCU.

The DCU is authorized for wear while traveling to and from the Central Command area of responsibility. Personnel deploying or PCSing to the AOR are allowed to wear conservative civilian attire or the DCU to and from the AOR, provided they are traveling between continental U.S. locations on a U.S. Flag commercial aircraft, bus, or train and/or on military aircraft or government chartered aircraft, bus, or train en route (CONUS or overseas).

It may also be worn on U.S. Flag commercial flights in CONUS while traveling between the airport and the Airman’s authorized rest and recuperation leave location.

Personnel may also wear the DCU when traveling between CONUS locations on a commercial aircraft, and/or on a military aircraft or government chartered aircraft en route (CONUS or overseas).

No other travel in DCUs on any commercial carrier is authorized (ordinary leave, TDY outside AOR, etc.).

DCU wear mirrors BDU wear instructions with the exception that tan boots are worn. When tan boots are not available, members wear black boots.
Personnel may wear the DCU hat or desert-style floppy hat with the DCU.  Headgear for the desert flight duty uniform will be the flight cap, DCU hat, or desert-style floppy hat.  The hat may not be pushed, rolled, folded or tucked in (e.g. Ranger Fold).
