U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Kayla T. Jerido, 86th Civil Engineer Squadron fire protection journeyman, received the honor of being Airlifter of the Week, Oct. 18 on Ramstein Air Base.
Jerido, a Southampton, New York native, was pivotal in the demonstration of critical Aircraft Rescue Firefighting tactics, ensuring continuity of safety for aircraft and aircrew while operating in and around partner nation airspace and ensuring these nations meet International Civil Aviation Organization requirements.
Included in her list of recent accomplishments, Jerido led a fire station immersion for 20 NATO partner firefighters from Lithuania, Romania and Ukraine.
She assisted with live-fire evaluations as part of a one week formal training curriculum taught by 435th Construction and Training Squadron cadre, and also led the station immersion for a spouse tour showcasing the fire department to 17 visiting spouses.
In her free time, Jerido enjoys reading, writing and singing. Jerido said she couldn’t be more grateful for the recognition and gives credit to her supervisors and mentors for this achievement.
