The European All-Stars pulled double duty in Maadi, Egypt Nov. 14 to 19.
The softball team of Army, Air Force and Department of Defense civilians from Germany took first place in the “A” division at the 2006 North African Softball Tournament Invitational. The team also made a lasting impression on the Cairo community. The members acted as ambassadors, promoted good sportsmanship, and mentored the Cairo High School boys team, who competed in the tournament.
The 2006 tournament was the first since 2000. From 1996 to 2000 the tournament was held twice a year with only teams from the Middle East competing. This year the tournament was open to everyone and was played at the Victory College Fields in Maadi, near Cairo, Egypt.
