The 34th Annual European Regional Junior Science and Humanities Symposium was held in Reidstadt Feb. 25 through 28. The JSHS is a national program that promotes original research and experimentation in the sciences, engineering and mathematics at the high school and middle school levels.

Students competed in the junior (middle school) or senior (high school) competitions in oral and poster contests.
Michael Rynders represented the KMC from Ramstein High School. He placed second in the oral presentation with his project, “Test of the Accuracy of Radiation as a Void Detection Tool,” winning a $1,500 scholarship and a trip to Orlando to participate in the national competition.
Amanda Vane from RHS placed third in the senior poster competition with her project, “Optimal Hydrogen Production: Electrolysis Using a 25% KOH Solution.”
