The culture and convention center in Ramstein-Miesenbach, Haus des Buergers, will open its doors for its 20th annual creative market Saturday and Sunday.
“More than 70 hobby artists and crafters will present their creative works and allow visitors to watch them working,” said organizer Marita Altherr.
Artists will demonstrate the different techniques and materials they work with.
“An artist from Brazil will create extraordinary light objects, and metal objects made of horseshoe nails take visitors into the wonderful world of professions and hobbies,” Altherr said.
A nativity scene builder will create scenes looking like huts in the Alps, and a local artist will present her miniature fairy tale world made of felt.
A professor will draw funny caricatures, and a fashion designer will present her handmade hats and scarves.
Also available will be floristic items, jewelry, ceramics, home and garden decorations, and wooden and glass objects.
Visitors can take part in crafting on the long tables set up in the basement.
After getting busy with crafts, visitors can walk over to the cafe to enjoy homemade cakes, cinnamon waffles and coffee.
“We again offer a raffle with nice prizes,” Altherr said.
All proceeds will go to the Ramstein-Miesenbach hos-pice aid. Last year, €1,000 was donated.
“We are still looking for American artists and crafters who would like to join our creative market next year,” Altherr said.
For American artists and crafters interested in taking part in the creative market next year, ask to speak with Altherr during the market or email altherrmarita@arcor.de. Opening hours are from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
