The competition began with boat races, where several handmade boats were pedaled from one end of the center’s pool to the other by the teams who built them. Three participants sink in their collapsing boat. Teams were tasked to bring their own boats to use in the competition, built from only duct tape and cardboard. Two groups of participants try to sink each other. After the boats were tested for speed, they were tested for endurance as the remaining boats were pitted against each other.
