The communities of Kaiserslautern-South, Landstuhl and Waldfisch-Burgalben will sponsor the 12th “Biking Fun in Sickingen County” event on Sunday. This year’s theme is “Raus aus dem Auto, rauf auf’s Rad,” Get out of your car, get on your bike. The car-free event is open to all bicyclists, walkers, hikers and inline-skaters. The official start is at Nanstein castle in Landstuhl. On the 20-kilometer route, between Landstuhl, Bann, Queidersbach, Linden, Horbach, Steinalben to Waldfischbach-Burgalben, there will be lots of entertainment presented to the participants such as live music at Steinalben and face painting for children at Linden and Steinalben. Country road L363 will be closed from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to motorized traffic. Official opening will be at 10 a.m. in Bann, at the Landhotel Zum Storchennest, with the support of the Fanfare Band, the Boeller Gun Shooters from Bann shooting club, the Schopp bicycle club and the former world champion in penny-farthing, Hans Rügner.
Other entertainment includes admission-free entrance to Nanstein castle, vintage car and tractor exhibition, and a bicycle technique training site at Queidersbach.
For those who need an emergency repair service or are looking for information on pedelecs, they can visit the information booth at the Horbacher Mühle.
The charming landscape, Palatinate delicacies, live music, information about cycling create an experience for the whole family.
