The American Red Cross will have a Review CPR/AED/First Aid course from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday and a Babysitters’ Survival Camp from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 17 and 19. Call 06371-47-2171 or email

Family Advocacy will host 1-2-3 Magic from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 24 and July 15 in Bldg. 2121’s first floor conference room. This class will focus on effective discipline for children, age 2 to 12. Come join us for one session to learn how to lower your parenting stress. The Employee Assistance Program sponsors Substance Abuse Training for all Department of Army civilians from 10 to 11 a.m. June 19 at Landstuhl’s Learning Center, Bldg. 3718. This counts toward the three-hour annual requirement for Department of Army civilians. The guest speaker will be the USAGK’s Staff Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Bill McCoy. The next monthly AF Commissioning Briefing will be at 3 p.m. June 24 in Ramstein Bldg. 2120, Room 415. If interested in applying for the AF Academy, LEAD, SOAR, ROTC, AECP, and/or OTS, you should attend this briefing to find out about eligibility criteria and application procedures. The Civilian Human Resource Agency Europe, Human Resource Development Division offers professional development and training opportunities at various locations in Europe. The courses are open to DA Civilians, LN’s and military members. The tuition cost is free for these courses. NAIMES is offering $1,200 under their Student Spotlight Award. The Student Spotlight Award is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their academic achievement to the military and civilian education community through an exploration of how the academic experience has influenced their military career. This is open to active duty personnel from all service branches. The deadline to submit a project, including the application, resume and letters of reference is Aug. 29.

The NTC offers all 34 CLEP exams electronically, with immediate score reports. CLEP tests are free to military personnel. The NTC also offers Pearson Vue Professional Certification Tests. The 36 DSSTs will also be given electronically at the NTC in the very near future. Now is the time to think about applying for the Scholarship for Outstanding Airmen to Reserve Officer Training Corps commissioning program. The SOAR program allows commanders the opportunity to nominate outstanding and deserving Airmen for two- to four-year AFROTC undergraduate scholarships. What makes SOAR different is that the program is open to students in any academic major – normally ROTC programs are only open to technical majors. Packages will need to be completed by Sept. 1 to be sent to the MAJCOM. For details, call 480-2032.

The Independence Day Lay Ministry Faith Formation Training Seminar will be July 4 to 7 in Wittenberg. The 2008 Faith Formation Training Seminar is a journey into the history of the Protestant Faith – walking in the footsteps of Martin Luther.

Provided by the Ramstein-Vogelweh Air Force Protestant Community, the ELCA Wittenberg Center and Christian Tours Europe, the four-day retreat will offer a unique opportunity to visit the historic sites connected with Luther in the care of professional guides and the staff of the Wittenberg Center.
