The Ramstein Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed Club #042 hosts its end-of-the-year awards 2 p.m. Sunday at the Ramstein Youth Center. AWANA is a nonprofit, international, nondenominational, Christian youth ministry. Children – pre-school to high school – attend the Ramstein AWANA chapter in age-specific clubs. The Independence Day Lay Ministry Faith Formation Training Seminar will be July 4 to 7 in Wittenberg. The 2008 Faith Formation Training Seminar is a journey into the history of the Protestant Faith – walking in the footsteps of Martin Luther.

Provided by the Ramstein-Vogelweh Air Force Protestant Community, the ELCA Wittenberg Center and Christian Tours Europe, the four-day retreat will offer a unique opportunity to visit the historical sites connected with Luther in the care of professional guides and the staff of the Wittenberg Center. The Civilian Human Resources Agency – Europe hosts a Workers Compensation Overview for Supervisors training from 1 to 4 p.m. today in Pulaski Bldg. 2925, Room 104, Wing C. The Kaiserslautern Transition Center hosts a pre-retirement briefing from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today in Kleber Kaserne Bldg. 3245. At least once prior to retirement, Soldiers and their family members should attend this briefing. To register, call 483-7071 or 0631-3406-7071.

Family Advocacy will host 1-2-3 Magic from 5 to 8:30 p.m. June 10, June 24 and July 15 in Bldg. 2121’s first floor conference room. This class will focus on effective discipline for children, age 2 to 12. Come join us for one session to learn how to lower your parenting stress. The National Testing Center is open for business on Ramstein in Bldg. 2104, Room 109. The NTC offers all 34 CLEP exams electronically, with immediate score reports. CLEP tests are free to military personnel. The NTC also offers Pearson Vue Professional Certification Tests.

Now is the time to think about applying for the Scholarship for Outstanding Airmen to Reserve Officer Training Corps commissioning program. The SOAR program allows commanders the opportunity to nominate outstanding and deserving Airmen for two- to four-year AFROTC undergraduate scholarships.

What makes SOAR different is that the program is open to students in any academic major – normally ROTC programs are only open to technical majors. Packages will need to be completed by Sept. 1 to be sent to the MAJCOM. For details, call 480-2032.

The Employee Assistance Program sponsors Substance Abuse Training for all Department of Army civilians from 10 to 11 a.m. June 19 at Landstuhl’s Learning Center, Bldg. 3718. This counts towards the three-hour annual requirement for Department of Army civilians. The guest speaker will be the USAG-K’s Staff Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Bill McCoy.
