We're in this thing together: how to start co-parenting better

We’re in this thing together: how to start co-parenting better

by Dr. Krystal White Contributing writer

Parenting decisions can be big (when to start toilet training) or small (should he get another cookie?). No doubt about it, some decisions are easy and some are very tough.

Where does our child sleep? Often, parents agree on these decisions, and other times they do not. Co-parenting is the term used to describe the negotiation process and team execution of:

The Wrong Fit

The Wrong Fit

by Dr. Krystal White Contributing writer

I work out in the mornings, eyes popping open like newly christened jam jars. My routine involves driving to the gym in the dark, hyping up on coffee, pinpointing goals of how far I am going to run, bike or row that day and what pace I would permit myself to take.
Everything is neatly planned out in my brain.

by Dr. Krystal White, Contributing writer

Men and women of all shapes and sizes frequently have a negative dialogue about not being “good enough” when it comes to their own body. Women average nearly one negative self comment about their shape or size every waking hour. The range, however, can extend to 10 disparaging thoughts per hour.
We are bullying ourselves constantly. Traditionally, most concerns about body image has been spent on girls. Current health professionals and research demonstrates that although boys are less likely to talk about their body insecurities, they still experience high levels of anxiety and fear.

Spring fire safety

The warm spring weather has finally arrived. It’s time for spring cleaning, barbecuing and practicing home fire saftey plans. So before firing up a gas barbecue grill, here are some helpful recommendations from the 86th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department. Grills should be inspected to ensure there is no buildup of grease or spider webs that inhibit the flow of gas to the controls. Ensure rodents have not made a nest in the area of the hoses and controls over the winter. This can cause propane to leak and ignite when the grill is ignited. If such a condition occurs, turn off the gas supply at the controls (if the controls are not on fire). If the controls are on fire, turn off the gas at the supply (propane tank). Call 1-1-2 to report the incident and the fire department will respond to ensure the fire is out and the gas is properly turned off. The following are fire safety facts and tips for grills from the National Fire Protection Association. • Twenty-seven percent of the home structure fires involving grills started on a courtyard, terrace or patio. 29 percent started on an exterior balcony or open porch, and
