Col. Bryan DeCoster, U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz commander, described in his opening remarks the importance of energy to the military: “Without energy, the Army cannot complete its mission. Without energy, we can’t deploy Soldiers to where they’re needed. Without energy, we can’t house them and their families.” Since energy is the Army’s second greatest expense, DeCoster encouraged everyone to take advantage of Energy Action Day to gain practical experience by testing various electrically powered vehicles and also to learn how to save energy.
