Otterbach sponsors Halloween fest Monday

This year, Otterbach will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its annual Halloween fest Monday at the village square. Since Germans observe 500 years of Protestant reformation on Oct. 31, organizers decided to celebrate Halloween a day earlier.

Germans observe religious holidays Tuesday, Wednesday

This year, reformation day, which is Oct. 31, has been declared as legal holiday throughout Germany to celebrate the 500th anniversary of reformation by Martin Luther. Normally, the religious holiday for Protestants is only observed as a legal holiday in the states of Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thueringen.

Staff Sgt. Joshua Montambeault, 86th Aerospace Medicine Squadron food safety non-commissioned officer in charge, dedicates hours of his time on stage as a local actor in the Kaiserslautern Military Community. Montambeault started acting at 15 years old when he was first stationed in Germany as an Army dependent. Since then, he has been awarded the 2015 Best Military Performance in a Play for his performance in “12 Angry Men,” as part of the Topper awards.

Butterflies begin to invade their stomachs as they step foot on the battered floor. The smell of painted wood fills their nose and the heat of the spotlight touches their skin like a tanning bed. A geyser of adrenaline shoots through their body increasing their heart rate to an all-time high. The show is about to start and the actors and actresses can’t help but feel nervous, except for one individual among them.
