May carnival starts today in Kaiserslautern

The Kaiserslautern May carnival called “Maikerwe” will start at 5 p.m. today on the Messeplatz fairgrounds. The event, which will run through May 29, is known as the biggest folks fest in the West Pfalz. It features rides, vendors, beer gardens, a fest tent and food stands.

The vacation region Ohmbachsee-Glantal will sponsor a family hiking day featuring a culinary panorama hike and an entertaining program between Haschbach and Niedermohr from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The hike will lead through four union communities and two counties, along the Glan-Blies biking trail between Theisbergstegen and Niedermohr and along the scenic panorama routes above the Glan Valley.
