Horror hike in Breunigweiler
Pfrimmtal Touristik office sponsors a horror trip that takes participants from the sports field in Breunigweiler, north of Alsenborn, to the center of town from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday. On the 2-kilometer trail with giant spiders, bats, witches, goblins, monsters and bandits scare hikers. After the hike, participants meet in yards to share their experience and enjoy food specialties in a spooky atmosphere. Tickets at the door cost €7. The Pfrimmtal Touristik association will sponsor its traditional spooky Halloween event Oct. 22 in Breunigweiler. A diversity of animals such as giant spiders and bats as well as ghosts, witches, monsters and bandits will be up to mischief and scare participants on a horror trip trail.

The Messeplatz fairgrounds in Kaiserslautern will turn into a big amusement park today to Oct. 24, when the city will sponsor its traditional “Oktoberkerwe,” or October carnival. The event will feature rides for adults and children, beer gardens, and a wide range of merchandise as well as food and candy specialties.

Farmers market in Linden
A German-French farmers market is set up in Linden, south of Queidersbach, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. More than 40 vendors present cheese, meat, wurst, juices, jelly, honey, trout, pastries, oil and wine. The local soccer club serves homemade cakes and coffee, and the men’s cooking club offers potato dumplings with bacon sauce.
