The cancer association, Mom/Dad has Cancer, a part of the Cancer Society Rheinland-Pfalz, will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a charity run Sept. 6 in Kaiserslautern under the auspices of Lord Mayor Dr. Klaus Weichel.

Car-free event day in Appelbachtal
The road from Würzweiler, northeast of Rockenhausen, to Pfaffen-Schwabenheim, Bad Kreuznach county, in the valley called Appelbachtal will close to motorized traffic Sunday for a car-free family day. Bikers, hikers and skaters can enjoy the 30 km car-free route from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Restaurants, associations and institutions in the villages along that road will offer culinary specialties, regional wines, live music and displays. Children can jump on bouncy castles, go on pony rides and get their faces painted. Participants can also explore churches and historical sites such as the castle ruins in Neu-Bamberg.
