All over German Christmas markets, shoppers will find unique wooden
items such as nutcrackers, Christmas pyramids, angels and other figures.
The origin of these holiday items dates back to the 17th century in the
Erzgebirge, a mountain area near the Czech border.

Sankt Wendel, a little romantic town in the federal state of Saarland,
will hold its Christmas market from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday to Dec.
16. More than 130 decorated Christmas booths will offer arts and crafts,
gift ideas and regional culinary specialties.
