U.S. Air Forces in Europe named its 2006 Outstanding Airmen of the Year at an April 6 banquet.
More than ever before, Airmen are serving combat deployments
traditionally filled by the Army and Marine Corps. Because of
sister-service personnel shortages, Airmen are serving in-lieu-of, or
ILO, the Soldiers and Marines who would normally execute these combat
missions. Ramstein
Ramstein has implemented the Anthrax Vaccination Immunization Program
in accordance with the March 20 U.S. Air Forces in Europe message
directing full implementation of the revised AVIP.
Beginning in May, American servicemembers, civilians and their families
who receive funds through the Cost of Living Allowance, or COLA,
program will receive less money.
The 435th Communications Squadron recently won the 2006 U.S. Air Forces
in Europe Maj. Gen. Harold M. McClelland Award. The award recognizes
large units for sustained superior performance and professional
excellence while managing core communications and information functions.
It was March 23, and 47 aeromedical evacuation patients, including
three critical care patients, were ready for a flight on a C-17
Globemaster en route to Andrews Air Force Base, Md., when they were
told the plane was broken.
Master Sgt. Cullen Combs, U.S. Air Forces in Europe Operations
Inspection division, was recently awarded the Bronze Star medal for
meritorious conduct during operations in Iraq.
