Sembach Elementary School second- and third-grade students completed “Hour of Code” during Computer Science Education Week Dec. 5 through 11 at SES. The objective of Hour of Code is to get more students interested in computer programming, putting them on track to take computer science jobs in the future. Wayne Barron, inspector, observes the Kaiserslautern High School second-year cadets demonstrate excellence through a drill demonstration during the Headquarters Air Force Junior ROTC evaluation Oct. 25 at KHS on Vogelweh. The Kaiserslautern High School cadets performed exceptionally well and took great pride in leading and accomplishing their unit briefing, drill demonstration and open ranks inspection. The junior ROTC instructors and cadets earned an overall unit assessment score of “Exceeds Standards,” the highest rating attainable, during the evaluation.

Kaiserslautern students play chess while dressed in costumes at a pre-Halloween chess tournament Oct. 29 at Kaiserslautern Elementary School. Over 70 students in costume participated in the round-robin, freaky-fun format. After the tournament, the six best costumes were awarded followed by a dance party with flashlights.
