KHS, 21st TSC honor African-American History Month with observance

Since September, students from Kaiserslautern High School’s Robotics Club, also known as The Block Busters, have prepared for the first Tech Challenge Robotics Competition, which took place recently in Munich, Germany.
Historically, the U.S. Air Force Academy produces outstanding leaders. The school is one of the country’s prestigious military academies and prides itself on accepting only the best.
As a command team, they are accustomed to leading and mentoring. When they stand in front of their formations, they can render hundreds of Soldiers silent with a single word. Today, they will face a new challenge as they try to mentor a new group — the first grade.
February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. If you are not aware of this issue, you are not alone. In a survey from 2012, 81 percent of parents believed teen dating violence was not an issue or stated they don’t know if it’s an issue.
A parent sets out to deploy and defend the freedom of millions. The children in these families are often left feeling alone, lost and unsure about the safety of their deployed parent. A great way to soothe the hearts and minds of the children who are left home is outreach through the Deployment Buddies program.
U.S. Army Garrison Baumholder’s Army Substance Abuse Program will host Children of Alcoholics Awareness Week Feb. 9 to 15 to help raise awareness of the risk factors and long-term trauma of alcohol abuse on children and families.
