***image2***April was the Month of the Military Child and military installations all across the globe came together to celebrate the children who will one day become our leaders.

This month also demonstrates the important role our military children play in our
community. The Month of the Military Child is a time to support military families for the difficult challenges they often face and overcome. More than 581 visitors and 58 staff and volunteers came out April 26 to celebrate and support our children at Pulaski Park.

Throughout the entire month, the U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern’s Child and Youth Services Division planned and hosted special events to honor our children. The Pulaski Park event included the USAG-K kiddie train, fire truck, bouncy castle and a puppet and magic show sponsored by the library.

The Army’s child development centers, including Kleber, Landstuhl and Miesau, as well as the Landstuhl School Age Services, Middle School Teen Center and sports department all came together to provide a day of quality service and support for the
community through a variety of activities.

For the younger children, there were arts and crafts tables, several games including tug of war, Go Fish and face painting. The older youth had a chance to participate in a basketball shoot-out, soccer shoot-out and a volleyball game. The Middle School Teen Center also brought out games like Dance Revolution and Sumo suits for wrestling.

The USAG-K’s SKIES program brought in Master Parks and several students, who gave a spectacular Taekwondo exhibit for everyone. The Middle School Teen Center’s Torch Club did face painting and temporary tattoos.

With children as their daily business, the USAG-K’s Child and Youth Services always enjoy this time of the year. This entire month wouldn’t have been possible without the great support provided by the command, guest readers, distinguished visitors, MWR facilities and individual volunteers.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to all the individual and group organizations that came out and assisted us in setting up and running this event.
