***image1***The 2004 Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas kicks off Oct. 4 and runs through Dec. 3 for all overseas combatant commands to include the KMC.
This annual fall fund-raising drive allows nearly 4 million federal employees and service members to contribute to more than 1,500 U.S. national and international nonprofit organizations.
“Giving to worthwhile charities is an easy way to help improve quality of life not only in our own military communities, but also worldwide,” said Capt. Shauntell Guillory-Hawkins, CFC installation representative. “With so many charity organizations available, there are worthy causes for everyone to choose to support.”
KMC goals for the 2004 campaign are 100 percent contact. Last year the KMC raised more than $1.2 million during the campaign.
A unique option afforded personnel stationed overseas is to give back to their base or installation by designating “FSYP,” for Family Support and Youth Programs, on their pledge form. By regulation, 100 percent of donations to this program must be returned to the base or installation of origin.
“CFC is an excellent way to organize charity programs and to make a difference in everyone’s life,” said Airman 1st Class Johnathon Kust, 1st Air and Space Communications Operations Squadron. “In the long run, I think everyone benefits from CFC donations.”
Contributions to the CFC-Overseas program can be made in cash, by check or by payroll deduction.
The campaign was established in 1961 and is the largest workplace-charity campaign in the country.
On average, one in four federal employees or their family members will benefit from the CFC charities this year alone, according to officials. Donors may designate which charity or charities receives their money by filling out a pledge card.
