CFC-O announces fundraising goal of $15.7 million

The combined Federal Campaign-Overseas Campaign kicked-off Oct. 4 and continues until Dec. 3 in all five overseas combatant commands.

During the campaign season, U.S. uniformed and civilian personnel can contribute to help people in need in military communities across the nation and around the world. The campaign is managed by Global Impact.

“Uniformed and civilian personnel are seeing the need every day through their service to our nation,” said Renée S. Acosta, president and CEO of Global Impact. “Due to their generosity, last year’s campaign provided more than $15.6 million to support the important work of charities around the world. This year, our goal is to raise $15.7 million because the needs are greater than ever.”

The campaign features more than 2,300 charities from which contributors can choose a cause that matches their individual passion. The CFC-O offers contributors the opportunity to give using the traditional paper Pledge Card or through e-Giving at www.cfcoverseas.org. Contributors who are interested in supporting their local overseas military communities can make a contribution to the Family Support and Youth Programs. Donations to FSYP are returned to the installation to support quality of life programs for overseas servicemembers and their families.

“Every member of the KMC will be given the opportunity to participate in the 2010 CFC-O,” said Capt. Christine Stevens, CFC lead community area project officer. “If you have never participated in the campaign, please join us. If you have given in the past, I thank you for your support and invite you to participate again this year.”

For questions regarding the campaign, contact one of the community area project officers: Captain Stevens at 480-2265, Lt. Brandon Reeves at 489-6166, Master Sgt. Michael Parker at 480-5585 or Master Sgt. Barry Cunningham at 480-2696.

About the CFC and CFC-O
The Combined Federal Campaign is the only authorized solicitation of federal employees in their workplaces on behalf of approved charitable organizations. The mission of the CFC is to support and to promote philanthropy through a voluntary program that is employee-focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.

Dedicated uniformed and civilian personnel demonstrate their generosity each and every day with service to our country and by joining together to help people and communities in need through the Department of Defense Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas.

The CFC-O, managed by Global Impact, is one of the most successful charitable workplace giving campaigns in the world. The five combatant commands raised more than $15.6 million in 2009 to reach out with life-saving and life-enriching services benefiting millions of people.
