Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the 2011 Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas program, the world’s largest charity campaign impacting the lives of military personnel and family members, starts Monday and runs through Dec. 2.
“This year’s Combined Federal Campaign again arrives during a time with the economy presenting challenges for many, if not all, serving in our military,” said Capt. Jared Thompson, Ramstein CFC representative.
“Despite these challenges, the past has shown Ramstein and the surrounding area consistently shines with the spirit of giving while bringing hope to many as we roll into each holiday season.”
CFC, the only authorized solicitation of federal employees in their workplaces, raises millions of dollars annually and features more than 2,500 charities. Every year, the CFC strives for 100 percent contact in order to achieve maximum contributions as required by law.
“The 2010 contributions from Team Ramstein were $658,099.11,” he said. “We are hoping to break $600,000 again for 2011.” This year’s campaign will kick off Thursday with a tri-wing run, beginning at
7 a.m. on Ramstein’s Ramp 2.
“We are all looking forward to continuing Ramstein’s tradition of giving throughout the 2011 holiday season,” Thompson said.
