***image1***It’s back-to-school time  and that means it’s time to stock up on school supplies.

The Department of Defense Dependents Schools-Europe has published an official list by grade level to be used when parents purchase school supplies.
The list is available online at www.eu.dodea.edu and outlines what a student needs to bring to school when classes begin Aug. 27, said Diana Ohman, director, DODDS-Europe.

“It is the only official list of supplies for students attending DODDS-E schools,” Ms. Ohman said.  “Other lists that may be in circulation, and any requests for students to bring additional supplies, should be disregarded.  Parents should only follow the DODDS-E official guidelines when purchasing school supplies for their children.”

The guidelines also specify what supplies will be provided by DODDS-E schools, Ms. Ohman said. Parents do not need to buy those items for their students.
Several parents have already questioned why quantities and specific sizes are not given in the guidelines for items such as pencils or three-ring binders.  According to school officials, these specifics were not included because the usage and consumption of supplies varies by grade level and class. Thus, they are left up to the teacher’s discretion.

“We work closely with the Army, Air Force, and Navy Exchange services,” Ms. Ohman said. “However, should a particular item not be available, teachers should be amenable to students using available substitutions.”

Questions or concerns can be discussed with the school principal.
