The American Red Cross will be offering an Introduction to International
Humanitarian Law course 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 13. Introduction to International
Humanitarian Law (IHL) is intended to raise awareness among Red Cross representatives and general audiences about the Geneva Conventions, the basic rules of international humanitarian law, and the role of the Red Cross during armed conflict to implement IHL. The classes are presented by the Adolescent Substance Abuse Counseling Services and Pediatric Behavioral Medicine. Class dates: Thursday, parental monitoring; Aug. 19, being a good role model; Sept. 2, use of appropriate and consistent discipline; Sept. 16, effects and warning signs of substance abuse; and Sept. 30, taking a clear stand on drugs.
