The German-American Friendship Association Siegelbach starts the second semester of German classes the last week of August.
“Our association has a 20-year long experience in teaching German,” said Erhard Weber, the president of GAFAS.
“An assignment over here will be completely different if servicemembers have some German skills,” Mr. Weber added.
All German classes take place in the Siegelbach Hauptschule. They meet as follows:
Beginners’ classes:
-8 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays; Aug. 31 to Dec. 7
-6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays; Sept. 1 to Dec. 8
-6:30 to 8 p.m. Fridays; Sept. 3 to Dec. 10
-8 to 9:30 p.m. Fridays; Sept. 3 to Dec. 10

ntensive beginners’ class:
-8 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays; Aug. 30 to Dec. 8
Advanced classes:
-6:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays; Aug. 30 to Dec. 6
-6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays; Aug. 31 to Dec. 7
-6:30 to p.m. Thursdays; Sept. 2 to Dec. 16
The intensive classes meet twice a week and cost 130 EUR. Classes meeting once a week cost 65 EUR. Books cost an additional 35 EUR.
The club offers additional reading practice free of charge.
“We also offer a year round educational program for families,” said Mr. Weber. “Those interested in our activities or the classes, should join our annual picnic between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. July 24 at the Siegelbach pavilion.”
The picnic also features games, a Tae Kwon Do demonstration, singing, eating and more.
