Combat Comm ‘adopts’ Ramstein lake

***image1***Volunteers are the core of many of the KMC’s most important programs. As the Air Force continues to undergo changes to its manpower, more organizations have turned to volunteers to assist them in fulfilling their primary missions. Without the time, dedication and service of the men and women of the KMC community, many programs would find it difficult to function.

The Airmen of the 1st Combat Communications Squadron Bravo Flight decided to unify their volunteer efforts and work as a team in order to assist with the upkeep of the Ramstein lake through the Adopt an Area initiative. The project is designed to advocate ownership of an area for local groups to care for and maintain.

“Having just arrived at 1st Combat Comm, I was anxious to get to know the members of my flight and help in the community. This fantastic initiative has provided me with that opportunity,” said Staff Sgt. Christian Rothschild, 1st CBCS satellite communications technician.

In addition to enhancing the appearance of KMC, the Adopt An Area Program provides an avenue for members to foster camaraderie and esprit de corps. This aspect of teambuilding plays a valuable role as all members of the 1st CBCS are trained and equipped to deploy within 72 hours to support any European or African Command mission.

“In a time when the Air Force is faced with manpower cuts and budget reductions, this outstanding flight has set the standard for bridging the relationship between their organization and our host base,” said Col. Joe Sublousky, 1st CBCS commander.

“Seeking opportunities to give back to the base and community is something every squadron member should strive to do and this team is setting the bar high.”
