Community Bank raises $23,000 for Landstuhl Fisher Houses

When challenged with a fundraising project in early August, Community Bank associates around the world came together to raise $23,000 for the Landstuhl Fisher Houses.

Community Bank associates have always taken pride in supporting the communities they serve, and in just a few weeks raised funds with the goal of giving a one-time donation to the Landstuhl Fisher Houses.

Associates enthusiastically organized bake sales, lunch plate sales, rummage sales and events to raise funds.

“Community Bank associates clearly demonstrated their commitment and dedication to our community and our country. By donating their time and efforts to raise this money in support of our wounded warriors and their families, they demonstrated great leadership during these uncertain times,” said Vivian Wilson, manager of the houses, when presented with the donation at Community Bank’s leadership meeting Oct. 21 in Mainz, Germany. “Know that your kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated by servicemembers who are undergoing medical crises. On behalf of the Landstuhl Fisher Houses, we thank you.”

The two Landstuhl Fisher Houses offer “homes away from home” at no cost to family members of active-duty or retired servicemembers being treated at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, allowing families to offer support to each other and their loved ones during difficult times.

Given as a gift from the Fisher House Foundation, the houses are owned, operated and maintained by the Department of the Army, under the Army Fisher House Program.

Community Bank, operated by Bank of America, supports the Department of Defense Overseas Military Banking Program, which provides stateside-like banking products and services to authorized customers.

Community Bank has nearly 80 banking centers and more than 300 ATMs in Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Italy, Japan, Korea, Diego Garcia, Guantanamo Bay, Honduras and Kwajalein Atoll.

Since its inception in 2001, the Landstuhl Fisher Houses have supported more than 7,906 families of which 2,119 have come from Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom. The houses have also supported 27 coalition countries during its families’ times of need.

The Landstuhl Fisher Houses depend greatly on charitable donations and volunteer hours of individuals and organizations for day-to-day operations and special projects.
