Kaiserslautern winter sports registration open

Registration for Kaiserslautern Winter Sports is open until Dec. 31. To register your child in two-week sessions of Basketball Camp (ages 5-15), Boxing Skills Camp (ages 10-15) Bowling Camp (ages 10-15) or Advanced Basketball Camp (ages 16-18) contact Parent Central Services by phone or online through Webtrac. An appointment must be made for in-person registration. Cost is $45. Kaiserslautern Start Smart basketball/soccer/baseball registration open

Start Smart is a “child/parent interactive” program led by a Sports & Fitness Specialist for ages 3-4. Sessions are 45 minutes long and are held twice a week for 3 weeks. Cost is $25 with registration open until Dec. 31, or until sessions are full. Golf Pro available

Whether you are just getting into golf or have a long-time love for the sport, Rolling Hills Golf Course has you covered! A Professional Golf Association Golf Pro is on staff to teach golf lessons to both youth and adults in Baumholder. Want to take lessons with a friend or partner? Ask about group offers. Updated VAT services and locations

Take advantage of the convenience of the newest VAT office on Vogelweh Housing at Armstrong’s Club, Bldg. 1036! Open Mon-Fri 10 a.m.-5 p.m., closed between 1-2 p.m. for lunch. All the VAT Offices located in both Baumholder and Kaiserslautern have services Mon-Fri. on an appointment-only basis. Kaiserslautern Outdoor Recreation seasonal rentals

Don’t be caught off guard this winter! Rent all the equipment you need for your next ski and snowboard trip from Outdoor Recreation and keep it until the first weekend in May! Halftime Sports Bar now offering takeout only

The Halftime Sports Bar is open for takeout only Mon-Thu, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-7 p.m., Fri, 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. and 4-10 p.m., Sat, 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m., closed on Sundays. Head over to Armstrong’s Club (Vogelweh Housing, Bldg. 1036) where the Hideaway Bistro & Grill is now serving a menu of American classics with delicious meals from salads to burgers, bar food classics, even pizza and tacos! Offering delivery to Vogelweh Housing during hours of operation, Mon-Fri 11 a.m.-2 p.m. & 5-10 p.m., Sat 5-10 p.m., closed Sundays. Currently all orders are for takeout or delivery. Baumholder Outdoor Recreation Services available

Borders might be closed and travel and outings as we know them might look different right now but Baumholder Outdoor Recreation is still offering great ways to keep busy and have fun! Rentals by phone reservation are still available for most items such as bikes (mountain and E-bikes), limited day passes for the fishing pond, fishing rod rental, as well as storage unit rentals. Be ready to roll out when trips start back up when you purchase a trip voucher for $20, $50 or $100! Retail shop is open Mon-Fri from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. by appointment only. The USAG RP Libraries, Landstuhl, Kleber Kaserne, and Baumholder offer call-in/email book orders and pick-up service. Returned items are promptly checked in after a quarantine period. Arts & Crafts Center open

The main Arts & Crafts Center is open as follows: Tue-Fri, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. & Sat from 12-5 p.m. Currently, classes are suspended but services such as custom framing, engraving, balloon orders, limited ceramics and bisque painting as well as the photo kiosk are still available. USAG Rheinland Pfalz Automotive Skills Centers by appointment only

Take advantage of the Automotive Skills Centers in your area. Car Wash operation is also open and staff will be disinfecting wands and vacuum cleaners several times a day for your safety. Auto Skills Centers are open with each bay limited to one customer at a time. Santa writes back

The Aquatic Center has a direct connection to the Big Man himself, Santa Claus, and they are helping him out this year in a big way by being the middle man for all those Santa letters! Drop your letters (enclosed with $1 per letter) at the Baumholder Java Café (located in the CMR building) in the North Pole Express Box with your return address before Dec. 23. Each letter will be read and responded to by Santa and will be returned with Rudolf’s stamp of approval. Jolly ol’ St. Nick is spreading the holiday spirit at Baumholder Outdoor Recreation where his sled is on loan until Dec. 23! Since world health restrictions have hampered his traditional photo op, he has left us the next best thing, his sleigh, for this year’s photo taking pleasure! By reservation only, families will have 20 minutes to take pictures on the sleigh. If you don’t have a camera, Outdoor Recreation will have one onsite but please bring a USB or memory card to bring the memories home with you.
