The 786th Security Forces Squadron operations superintendent with the 86th Contingency Response Group received the 2003 U.S. European Command Senior Service Member of the Year.
Senior Master Sgt. Robert Henson served as a key planner for the unit’s combat jump into Bashur, Iraq, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The critical airfield seizure opened the northern front in Iraq, allowing 366 transient aircraft to delivered 23 million pounds of equipment and 4,500 combat troops.
He also led a classified deployment to Romania before the war started and opened a new airfield in support of U.S. Special Operations Command. (Courtesy of EUCOM Public Affairs)
