Easter markets with Easter egg displays, decoration items and special activities are scheduled to take place in the coming weeks.
On March 23 and 24, the 24th annual Easter egg market sponsored by the Westpfalz Werkstaetten in Siegelbach will take place on both days from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“We are four females from Rodenbach organizing this annual event since 1995,” said Gundi Klein, event organizer. “This year we again will have more than 21 hobby artists presenting traditional and modern arts Easter decorations.”
Visitors can watch the artists presenting the various techniques they use to create their objects. Traditional eggs have engravings, wax, straw and pearl applications. Modern techniques feature marbled eggs or eggs turned into little art works by painting them with oil and water colors. All objects on display can be bought.
“Last year, we had almost 1,200 visitors coming to this market,” Klein said. “We also offer a raffle where participants can win decorative prizes.”
Snacks and beverages will be offered in the cafeteria. Admission to the Easter egg market is only a small fee. All net profits will go to the Westpfalz Werkstaetten, which is a sheltered workshop for people with disabilities.
