» University of Maryland University College Europe announces registration for Spring 2011 Session 1. Registration for on-site (face-to-face) courses is available through Jan. 16, when classes will begin. Registration for Europe online (distance education) courses continues until Jan. 23, with classes starting on Jan. 24. Students are encouraged to enroll early.

» For the first time, UMUC is offering 50 percent off on all books purchased through webText Europe until Monday. Students can also apply for a book award to offset textbook costs, including the $100 Orkand Military Book Award for enlisted servicemembers and the $100 Europe Book Award for spouses and family members of servicemembers of all ranks. » Field study courses provide students with an opportunity to travel and explore Europe while earning university credit. Two upcoming courses are “Northern Renaissance Art in Brussels and Paris” held in Belgium and France from March 12 to 19 and “Expatriate Writers in Rome” held in Italy from March 12 to 19. The registration deadline for both courses is Feb. 20. KMC AFCEA scholarships

The KMC Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association is now offering winter term scholarships to active-duty junior officers, enlisted, civil service and family members currently employed/residing within the KMC and pursuing an advanced, graduate or undergraduate degree in any information technology related field, including electronics or communications engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or technology or pursuing a professional certification in a related field.

Recipients will receive scholarship awards of up to $200 for those eligible for tuition assistance and $400 for those ineligible for tuition assistance of any kind. The application form is available online at www.kmcafcea.org/kmcscholarship and should be submitted to scholarships@kmcafcea.org no later than Jan. 14.
