Electric powered fans or space electric heaters should not be an alternative to gas heating, this method of heating can be a cost trap. 

These type of devices are not designed for permanent heating. 

In order to reduce heating costs with gas, it is better to heat the rooms your family uses and turn down the heating in rooms not used frequently.
