A farm fest with creative market will take place 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Hitscherhof farm. The traditional event will highlight pumpkins and present regional products as well as arts and crafts.
Farmers will offer fresh agricultural products such as fruit, vegetables, potatoes, meat, cheese, honey, wurst and bread. Other items for sale are oil, liquor, wine, juices, mustard, tea, candy, relish, chutneys, herbal salt, pasta and pesto.
“We also invited art and craft vendors to display a variety of items such as jewelry, leather items, wooden toys, dolls, teddy bears, hats, caps, scarves, purses, pottery, baskets and garden accessories,” said Daniel Fischer from the Hitscherhof, “visitors can also watch how crafters create their products.”
The food specialties offered will range from pumpkin soup, corn on the cob, corn pancakes, bratwurst, schwenksteaks to pumpkin pies and waffles.
“As a novelty we offer a Celtic burger, which is a pumpkin seed broetchen with game meat, pumpkin and salad,” said Fischer. “Our highlight is the freshly cooked pumpkin soup, for which we will ‘slaughter’ a giant pumpkin.”
Children can enjoy a walk through the corn maze, jump on a straw castle and ride ponies.
The farm will be decorated with pumpkins and visitors can buy various types of pumpkins as well as pumpkin marmalade, pumpkin seed oil and pumpkin sparkling wine.
