The Sixth North Palatinate Farmers Market will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday in Schneckenhausen. Regional farmers and vendors will present items of high quality at more than 60 stands. The event will also feature a tractor display and thresher demonstration.
The market is known for fresh regional products such as pumpkins, honey, liquors and juices.
Visitors will be able to taste the delicacies. The biggest organic farmer in Rheinland-Pfalz will present his honey. Freshly baked bread just for this market will be served as well as fish from regional ponds. Also available will be crepes filled with Palatinate and French marmalades, various kinds of wurst and cheese, and selected whiskeys.
Visitors will also find stands with handmade wooden bowls, jewelry, pottery items and wool products.
The market features a display of old tractors and historical agricultural equipment, threshing demonstrations and apple juice squeezing.
Children will find ponies, chickens, ducks and rabbits in a petting zoo and can participate in games.
Besides the food specialties by farmers and wines by regional vintners, local women will serve homemade cakes in the Buergerhaus. Here, there will be a chance to taste the “Bizzler,” the first new wine of the year, which tastes more like grape juice and contains less alcohol.
