Farmers, vendors show off their merchandise

More than 70 farmers and vendors will present their products and items at the traditional Hitscherhof farm fest 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

***image1***Regional farmers offer fresh agricultural products such as fruit, vegetables, potatoes, meat, cheese, wurst, bread, noodles, wine and juices.

The annual event also features a creative market with art and craft vendors displaying a variety of items such as lamps, dishes, jewelry, pottery, paintings, teddy bears, dolls, ceramic items, wood carvings, nativity scenes, candles, garden accessories, music instruments, dried flowers, postcards and antique furniture.

Hungry visitors can try new wine with Flammkuchen or tarte flambé, a French thin pizza covered with bacon, onions and sour cream. There will be schwenksteaks, bratwurst, salads, corn on the cob and pumpkin soup. For those with a sweet tooth, waffles and cakes will be available for sale.

Children can enjoy a walk through the corn maze or have their faces painted.

Hitscherhof is located between Thaleischweiler and Rieschweiler. Take autobahn A62 from Landstuhl south to the Thaleischweiler-Fröschen exit. After exiting, go West toward Rieschweiler and before reaching Rieschweiler, turn right to Hitscherhof.
