Battle dress uniform trousers must be bloused over and must cover the top edge of the combat boot. Trousers may be tucked into boots if a bloused look is acheived. Blousing is defined as “to gather in and drape loosely.” Trousers cannot be folded or have a tapered look. Additionally, the material of the shirt and trousers must match in weight (summer or winter-weight material) and wear (new blouse should not be paired with older, faded trousers.)
For female members wearing maternity BDU trousers, blousing is optional. If maternity trousers are not bloused, tie straps will be removed and trousers will be ankle length and hang naturally, barely resting on the boot without a break in the crease.
