January marked the beginning of the phase-in of the “U.S.” collar insignia with the circle around it for wear with the service coat by enlisted personnel. Those of us who have been around for a few years will remember that this insignia has been worn before: the only difference is that then it had a darker, satin finish, while today’s version sports a highly polished finish. The insignia has been brought back in an effort to restore our proud enlisted heritage. If you haven’t bought yours already, you should do so soon – and wear it proudly.
