Be financially ready before deployment
Are you preparing to deploy for 90 days or more?
If so, then you should make sure that all of your financial affairs are in order before you leave. That should include arrangements to pay your bills while you are gone. You should also notify your credit card companies that you will be gone. This can alert them to watch for any unusual activity. Also, some cards, such as the AAFES Star Card, offer reduced interest rates or deferred payment plans during deployments. Just a quick phone call can get you a lot of peace of mind.
