The sound of the ringing bell during the holidays signals the KMC First Sergeants Association’s annual Holiday Cheer program.
It’s the sound of giving.
Each year, members of the KMC First Sergeants Association ring bells and collect donations in front of the Ramstein Base Exchange and commissary.
***image1***“All the money people give goes to Holiday Cheer,” said Master Sgt. Colon Graves, 86th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron first sergeant.
Holiday Cheer is the First Sergeants’ way of helping out Airmen and their families through the holiday season.
Last year, the association gave about $40,000 in commissary and AAFES gift cards and certificates to hundreds of families.
The KMC First Sergeants raise money year-round for the holiday program. They flip burgers for donations in front of the Vogelweh Powerzone. They bag groceries and starting Nov. 25 and 26, they will ring the bell.
“We give to families who may need a little extra through the holidays,” Sergeant Graves said.
The program also gets a little help from the Ramstein Officers’ Spouses’ Club, which gives the KMC First Sergeants a grant in support of the Holiday Cheer program. The group also receives donations from the Defense Commissary Agency, which helps with supplies.
