***image1***Everyone has a different motivation when to it comes to getting fit, whether it’s passing the Air Force PT test, wanting to look and feel good or improving their overall health.

For Senior Airman Jason Price, fitness specialist at the Ramstein Southside Fitness Center, he wants to keep that motivation going by greeting customers with a smile every morning.

“When the average person comes in, they pretty much have that feeling like ‘Well, I don’t feel like being here but I’m here because I have to work out,’” he said.  “But when I see them and when I greet them with a smile, a smile pops up on their face like ‘Hey, this is not too bad after all.’”

Airman Price said it is his way of encouraging customers to make fitness a way of life.

“It motivates them to see that I’m motivated,” he said.  “Because the average person may think ‘Well, I scored a 100 on the PT test so it doesn’t matter.’ But I want everyone to score a 100.  Everyone in my squadron.  Everyone in the Air Force.  I want them to be as fit as possible.”

Airman Price not only encourages it, but demonstrates it as well.  He scored a 100 on his PT test.  He leads physical training sessions for his squadron.  He also plays sports and works out in his spare time.

“He has a passion for sports,” said Tim Cline, fitness center director.  “He has a passion for fitness.  There’s definitely a level of enthusiasm in everything he does.”

Airman Price said he tries to keep that enthusiasm going from when he starts his shift at 3:30 in the morning to when he gets off work in the afternoon.  By smiling and greeting everyone who comes in the fitness center, he hopes that it motivates the customers to keep coming back.

“What puts a smile on my face is seeing the other smiles that walk in here,” he said.  “Seeing that frown turn into a smile.  That just brightens my day and makes me want to smile and greet everyone that comes in.”
