GACO corner: K-Town gets moving

Ready to set a world record?

On your mark, get set, run…

Imagine the whole city of Kaiserslautern running together to set a world record! This is exactly the idea behind a major campaign that will take place in May.

What is the goal?

To run as many kilometers as possible in 90 days. And not just by sports professionals, but by everyone! Whether young or old, fast or slow, living locally or abroad — anyone who feels connected to K-Town can take part and join in. The aim is to beat the Allianz Group’s previous record. We have to run more than 1.38 million kilometers and achieve an average of at least 1.5 km per participant per day.

Why is this so special?

This record attempt is intended to show how important it is that all people, regardless of whether they have a disability or not, can do sport. The handicapped athlete Abdul Dogan is a wheelchair user; he will accompany the campaign and show us how much fun sport can be. Wheelchair users can take part in the record attempt as long as they cover the kilometers with their own muscle power.

How can I take part?

It starts on May 22, with a big run at the B2Run Kaiserslautern. After that, everyone has 90 days to collect kilometers. At the end, it will be determined whether Kaiserslautern has broken the world record.

Why should I take part?

  • Be part of a great adventure! Let’s set a world record and make history.
  • Show how important inclusion is! Help ensure that everyone can do sport.
  • Have fun and get moving! Do something good for yourself and your health.
