In 2021, Germany altered its traffic laws and also implemented a few new traffic signs.
You may have spotted it somewhere, but many drivers are not familiar with this new sign.
The sign with a white background and a black frame under the blue parking symbol depicts four people, two females and two males, as well as a car separated into two parts. It means that only official car sharing vehicles may park there. This does not apply to any private car sharing or pooling initiatives.
If you park there, you can face a €55 fine and might also be towed, resulting in additional expenses.
Another sign saying “Carsharing frei” (free) underneath a no parking sign, allows car sharing vehicles to park there.
