***image1***Ramstein’s culture and conference center, Haus des Bürgers, starts advance ticket sales for play season 2004/2005 Monday.
The new program includes 22 performances of all kinds of musical entertainment, dances, theater plays and cabaret.
“The Haus des Bürgers is a service institution which provides a diversified cultural program for the region,” said Ramstein-Miesenbach’s Mayor Klaus Layes during a recent press conference. “Since 1986, our culture center works together with the Salten Performance Agency who puts together a successful program each year.”
Comedy/Theater:
The play season starts with “Mord in Jacques’ Bistro,” Murder in Jacques’ Bistro, a criminal comedy at 8 p.m. Sept. 25. The audience can get involved and guess who is the murderer.
Peter Steiner’s Theaterstadl presents a Bavarian comedy about love and fraud at 8 p.m. Sept. 28. Another German comedy from the Comedy Theater am Kurfürsten-damm in Berlin can be seen at 8 p.m. Oct. 17. “Das glückliche Paar,” the happy couple, talks about a husband and his wife who play a dream couple on television but not in real life.
A tragic comedy by Carl Zuckmayer is “Der Hauptmann von Koepenick” at 8 p.m. April 9. Bodo Bach known as the telephone terrorist makes funny phone calls at 8 p.m. April 16.
Concert:
The first concert of the season is presented by Kathy Kelly, former member of the Kelly Family, who sings a mix of musicals, classical music and own pieces at 8 p.m. Oct. 8. “Christmas moments” is a concert with soloists and a gospel choir at 8 p.m. Dec. 11. The New Year’s Day concert with the Johann-Strauss-Orchestra Kurpfalz is at 8 p.m. Jan. 2.
The Haus des Bürgers offers a classic music program at 5 p.m. Sundays. Christine Leyser presents songs by Johannes Brahms, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and George Gershwin Sept. 26. The Symphony Orchestra of the Kaiserslautern County performs works by Sergej Prokofjew Oct. 31. A chamber concert for cello and piano is Nov. 28. The Mainz Chamber Orchestra presents works by Georg Philipp Telemann and Johann Sebastian Bach Feb. 13. Soloists of Villa Musica perform works by Antonin Dvorak, Leos Jancek, Ludwig van Beethoven and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart March 6. The last Sunday concert is with star soprano singer Raissa Tscheptscherenko singing “Melodies of the Heart” April 10.
Musical:
The first musical is by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice in English, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” at 8 p.m. Nov. 26. The Biblical story talks about Jacob’s favorite son Joseph, who gets sold as a slave to Egypt and later becomes a successful statesman. “The Rocky Horror Show” by Richard O’Brien is the second musical, presented by the London Musical Theatre at 8 p.m. Jan. 12.
“Crazy Broadway” is a funny musical comedy with world hits by Elton John and The Bee Gees at 8 p.m. March 5. “The Musical Starlights” present musical hits by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and the Disney Musical Productions at 8 p.m. March 17. Soloists, choir, ballet and orchestra perform melodies from “Lion King,” “Cats,” “Evita,” “The Phantom of the Opera” and others.
Another musical show is “Elvis Forever,” presented by Rio, the voice of Elvis and his T.C.B. Band at 8 p.m. May 7.
The family musical “Max und Moritz” is for children 4 years old and up at 5 p.m. March 8.
Ballet:
Ballet Classique de Paris presents “The Nutcracker” at 8 p.m. Dec. 1.
Opera/Operetta:
The Haus des Bürgers also offers operas and operettas. Guiseppe Verdi’s opera “Nabucco” is presented at 8 p.m. March 10 and “Der Zigeunerbaron,” an operetta by Johann Strauss is performed by the Music Theater Sofia at 8 p.m. April 24.
“We really want to give everybody the chance to see our performances, therefore we offer a babysitter service,” said Gerhard Denzer, manager of Haus des Bürgers. “If parents let us know three days in advance, we can arrange for well-trained babysitters, who take care of the children in the library, right next to the performance hall.” Cost is half of the ticket price or at least 6 EUR.
The Haus des Bürgers offers season tickets at reduced prices. Sale for the classic music season ticket starts Monday and the sale for season tickets with a choice of seven from 22 performances starts Wednesday. Advance sale for single tickets begins July 5. Tickets are available at the ticket office in the Haus des Bürgers 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday.
