***image1***Ramstein American Elementary School first-grade teacher Michael Fernandez invited recuperating Soldiers, wounded in Iraq, to his classroom Feb. 8. The five Soldiers, who were presented with handmade Valentine’s Day cards from the children, met with students, read with them and lunched together. The children decorated candy-filled jars, packed them up, and sent them with Soldiers to deliver to fellow Soldiers at Kleber Kaserne. In December, the children had decided to make the Valentine’s Day cards and send candy-filled jars to wounded Soldiers at Kleber Kaserne, rather than exchange gifts in the classroom.
