Ramstein turned around a 31-28 deficit at halftime by outscoring the International School of Brussels 20-3 in the third quarter and posted a 67-41 victory. Leading the Royals were junior Allen Weaver with 21 points and senior Brennon Relaford with 19.
Saturday, the Royals steadily built their lead the whole game and won 55-33. Junior Allen Weaver scored 18 points followed by Eric Murray with 13 and Alex Tremble with 10.
Girls basketball
Ramstein 48, ISB 34 (Jan. 28)
Ramstein 47, ISB 46 (Saturday)
The Ramstein girls also swept the weekend series against the International School of Brussels. They won handily Jan. 28 with Krissy Grosselin leading the way with 20 points. Kayleen Bannister added 7 points and 9 rebounds.
Saturday the Lady Royals barely hung on for the win. Corrine Lauture led the team with 17 points and Krissy Grosselin followed with 13. Heather Steele added 6 points and 9 rebounds.
Wrestling
Heidelberg 249.5, Wuerzburg 179, Ansbach 111.5, Kaiserslautern 92, Vilseck 50, Baumholder 37
Kaiserslautern wrestlers placed fourth in a six-team round robin tournament Saturday. Stephen Gillespie soundly beat the previously undefeated Heidelberger Chris Toner at 103 pounds. Harrison Hayes defeated three grapplers to take third place at 119.
Jamie “Bean” Jung took third at 125 pounds. Madison Hayes achieved first place for the 3rd consecutive week at 171. Rocky Fisher took third at 215 pounds. At 275 pounds, Troy Price nabbed first with a 36-second first period pin of his last opponent followed by Sasha Chavez grabbing third place after four matches.
