Patch 7, Ramstein 6
The Lady Royals split a double-header against Patch Saturday. Ramstein took the first game on strong pitching by Jessica Apodaca. The second game was won by Patch on the pitching of Kayla Lalau.
K-Town 5, Bitburg 3
Bitburg 3, K-Town 1
The Lady Raiders split two games against Bitburg April 29. Kaiserslautern won game one on the strong pitching of Kili Smith who pitched a three-hitter with six strikeouts. Smith also went 3-4 at the plate. In game two Kaiserslautern had trouble scoring against Bitburg pitcher Ashley Kazimer, who had nine strikouts and no walks.
Heidelberg 11, K-Town 0
Heidelberg 10, K-Town 7
The Lady Raiders got swept by the Lady Lions in a double-header Saturday. Pitcher Kili Smith took the loss and Kaiserslautern only managed two hits in game one. In game two the Lady Raiders blew a 6-3 lead and by allowing four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Tina Mamer homered for Kaiserslautern in a losing effort.
Boys’ soccer
Ramstein 1, Wiesbaden 1
The Ramstein Royals finished in a tie with the Wiesbaden Eagles Saturday. After a scoreless first half, Jason Pollock opened the scoring to give the Royals a 1-0 lead. Wiesbaden tied the game with six minutes remaining and that closed the scoring.
K-Town 2, Wuerzburg 1
The Raiders got the go-ahead goal on the leg of Josh Warren with just a few minutes remaining in the game April 29. Alex Jimenez scored the Raiders’ first goal.
Lakenheath 3, K-Town 2
The Raiders lost a heartbreaker Saturday. They got two goals off the foot of Alex Jimenez and the game was tied 2-2 with eight minutes remaining. Bryce Watkins from Lakenheath broke the tie and Kaiserslautern couldn’t mount another goal.
Girls’ soccer
Ramstein 6, Wiesbaden 0
The Lady Royals shut out the Wiesbaden Lady Eagles in a dominating performance Saturday. Ramstein scored three goals in the first 15 minutes and never looked back. Mari Shakir had a big game assisting on three goals.
K-Town 2, Wuerzburg 0
The Lady Raiders got a solid game in goal from Bianca Gerena, who didn’t allow a goal. Paris Cervantes also scored two goals en route to the victory April 29.
K-Town 3, Lakenheath 2
The Lady Raiders got another strong defensive effort Saturday and got goals from Paris Cervantes, Liana Knight and Anna Hrushka, who scored on a corner kick.
Track and Field
Ramstein boys’ track team won their meet with 229 points. The following athletes finished first in their events. Parker Cowles (800, 1,500, 3,000 meter runs), James Hamlett (400 meter run), Marquiston Showers (triple jump), Brennon Relaford (high jump) and Willie Pierce (shot put).
The Ramstein girls’ team finished second in their meet with 152 points. The following athletes placed first in their events. Krissy Grosselin (800 meter and long jump), Lorraine Tucker (1,500 meters) and Ladashia McIntosh (100 meter hurdles).
The Kaiserslautern boys’ team took first in their meet with 183 points. First-place finishers were: Steven Burnett (1,500 and 3,000 meter runs), Jamal Anene (800 meter run), Chris Ferguson (300 meter run) and Brian Hill (shot put).
The Kaiserslautern girls’ team also won their meet with 191 points. The following finished first in their events. Lynndsey Hyter (100 meter, long jump and triple jump), Teena Robinson (high jump), Dekia Moore (discus and shot put) and Mandra Smith (100 and 300 meter hurdles).
