Headquarters United States Air Forces in Europe was opened at U.S. Army Station 197 (later Lindsey Air Station) in Wiesbaden, Sep. 28, 1945. The headquarters moved to Germany after World War II ended to support and focus on the Occupation Force that remained in Germany. Headquarters is the large square building in the center, damage caused by aerial bombing during the war is still visible.Photo courtesy of Headquarters United States Air Forces in Europe
