A farm festival with a creative market will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Hitscherhof farm. The traditional event will highlight pumpkins and present regional products as well as arts and crafts.
Farmers will offer fresh agricultural products such as fruit, vegetables, potatoes, meat, cheese, honey, wurst and bread. Other items for sale include oil, liquor, wine, juices, mustard, tea, candy, relish, chutneys, herbal salt, dog cookies, pasta and pesto.
Arts and crafts vendors will display a variety of items such as wooden puzzles, dream catchers, lamps, dishes, jewelry, hats, caps, scarves, purses, pottery, paintings, teddy bears, dolls, ceramic items, Halloween and Christmas decorations, wood carvings, candles, leather goods, garden accessories, baskets, dried flowers, postcards, and antique furniture. Some crafters will also demonstrate how they create their products.
The food specialties being offered will range from pumpkin soup, corn pancakes, bratwurst, schwenksteaks to flammkuchen or tarte flambée, a French thin pizza covered with bacon, onions and sour cream. For those who enjoy sweet food, waffles and cakes will be available.
Children can enjoy a walk through the corn maze, jump on a straw castle, play in the sandbox or get their faces painted. The farm will be decorated with pumpkins. Visitors can admire giant pumpkins weighing about 700 pounds and taste pumpkin food specialties, such as pumpkin seed bratwurst, pumpkin soup and different pumpkin cakes.
